Canyon Lake Forest

If you’re looking for that classic Hill Country lake life without the multi-million dollar price tag, Canyon Lake Forest is usually where I take my clients first. Tucked away on the south side of the lake near Startzville, this neighborhood has a vibe that’s hard to beat—it’s laid-back, wooded, and feels like a permanent weekend getaway. What makes this place special is the lack of 'cookie-cutter' syndrome. You’ll see a charming 1970s A-frame cabin right next to a 2020 custom-built modern farmhouse. The terrain here is classic Texas—lots of elevation changes, limestone outcroppings, and a massive population of white-tail deer that basically act as the neighborhood welcoming committee. Most folks living here are a mix of retirees, young families looking for Comal ISD schools, and weekend warriors who want a home base near the water. You’re literally minutes from Boat Ramp 1, which is one of the best access points on the lake. While it’s not a gated community, it has a very established, safe feel. For your morning coffee or a quick grocery run, you’re just five minutes from the Brookshire Brothers in Startzville. If you’re commuting, you’re looking at about 25 minutes into New Braunfels and roughly an hour to downtown San Antonio. It’s the kind of place where neighbors wave from their golf carts, and the hardest decision you have to make on a Saturday is whether to hit the community pool or take the boat out on the turquoise water of Canyon Lake.
